After two cats, 36 dogs, and 1,530 photos we were able to raise over $600 for WOOF and their efforts to open a new dog park on Godown Road.  We’re exhausted and covered in drool, but we enjoyed every minute of the last two days!  Thank you to everyone who brought their dog (or kitty) in to be photographed and for helping us support WOOF.  A special thank-you goes to Jennifer Lyon for helping us to get organized, and for helping to get the word out.  Also a special thanks to Perri for helping us on Saturday – you have a heart of gold and I don’t know what we would have done with out you!

And now, without further introduction a preview of the fantastic critters who came to visit us this weekend:

We hope the holiday season is treating you well and wanted to let everyone know our special hours for the next couple of weeks.  The studio will be closing early Wednesday Dec. 22 at 4pm. We will then be closed Dec.23 through Dec. 26 and will also be closed New Years Day. Feel free to email us as we will still be scheduling consultations and portrait sessions for the upcoming year! How about a cute newborn photo to ring in the New Year?

As of June 1 our studio is entering a new phase.  Our name has changed and we will from now on be known as Little Tree Studios.  We have a few reasons for changing our name, some of them are very exciting and have yet to be revealed.  Be sure to visit our new website at http://www.littletreestudios.com, and for now you can continue to visit here for news and updates about our studio.  We’re very excited about what the future has to hold for our business, and can’t wait to share our studio’s future with you!

So as you may have figured out by looking at my photos I don’t have a studio and am currently a strictly on-location photographer.  This can be a problem at times, especially when the weather turns cold here in the Buckeye state.  When a coworker of mine asked me to take some photos of his daughter I immediately said YES!, but when he mentioned he wanted the photos done inside because of the lovely, lovely weather we’re about to have here the little panic wheels in the back of my head started turning.  But never fear!  I found a solution!  After months of admiring the giant rolls of white seamless backdrop paper online I finally ordered myself a big ol’ roll.  Not being able to wait until the paper’s delivery to try-out some white seamless photography, and not wanting to make my coworker’s daughter the subject of experimental flash photography I recruited my (very) forgiving husband for a little portrait session tonight.  Here are a couple of the night’s successes (being posted in retaliation for his lovely post from last night).

Shot against the eggshell wall of our dining room:

Ok, not actually a white seamless, but it gave me a little practice with shooting against a light background.

Strobist info:  SB80DX shot at 1/8 power at the back right to illuminate the white wall, SB900 at 1/64 power shot out of an umbrella on the left.  In the future I’m hoping to add a reflector on the right to fill-in some of the shadows on the face.
